Wouldn't It Be Cool If...?

Students,

What do you think are the most important inventions of all time? How have these inventions changed the way we live?  If you could invent anything (and pitch it to a panel of judges and artist will.i.am) what would it be?

For this week's Achieve3000 and blog assignment:

1) Watch the above video and use the "wallwisher" below to reflect on what you think have been the most important inventions of all time.

2) Log in to Achieve3000 and use the "search" feature to search for articles about inventions and choose one to read, complete the activity, and summarize the article for your fellow students in the comments below (one paragraph).  Record your article title and your multiple choice activity score on your Achieve3000 graphic organizer.  As always, your multiple choice activity score will be graded as a "quiz" grade.

3) Write a paragraph about any invention ideas you would like to develop or see happen.  What would you like to invent to improve your home life, school, community, or the world?

Your blog post this week should consist of two well-developed and proofread paragraphs.  One paragraph that summarizes an article about an invention, and a second paragraph that describes an invention you think might be worth pitching to artist, will.i.am.  "Wouldn't It Be Cool If" contest details will be available on February 21st.  Who knows, maybe this is something you could develop and eventually pitch to the judges?

**Make sure to proofread for CUPS and compose in a google doc before submitting!

  1. In my teen-biz article “A Flying Car...Finally” I read about our technology and inventors creating something that will change our world forever. This car is a lot of money. It makes since that it’s so much because the car can fly. How awesome is that... a flying car!! The gas mileage is about 30 miles per gallon which is about the same amount that a regular car uses. The car/plane can carry up to 1,430 pounds. It is designed to fly mostly under 10,000 feet, or about 25,000 feet below large commercial jets. With the low flying attitude the car/plane is very safe.

  2. Terrafugia is ready with the next great invention - Transition. Transition is a car, that can extend its wings and fly. It is a much cheaper alternative for a plane because it can be parked at home and had a much cheaper base cost than a plane. It runs on 30 miles per gallon, and only flies at 10,000 feet, 25,000 feet shorter than a commercial plane. This makes the vehicle much safer because it can fly below storms. Terrafugia has been working with the FFA and the NHTSA to reach the driving and flying regulations, so Transition will be able hit the market.

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could have a tablet that was fully functional in water? For anyone that likes to take baths they could get one of these tablets, and be able to read in the bath without worrying about the water. You could take your tablet out at the beach and enjoy reading, or playing games on the beach, without worrying about the water. You could also get apps, that would work underwater. Imagine a app that plays music under water! Wouldn’t that be cool?

  3. @Cullan: That would definitely be cool. I want a waterproof book for the bathtub, too!

  5. I think some of the greatest inventions of all time is the wheel because, We would not have anything without it. And fire, because we also need that as well. And another important invention is The cellphone

  6. The article I read was about a car that can swim. It was invented by a guy named Frank Rinderknecht. He was the CEO of Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc and came up with the idea of the car. He was inspired by the spy James Bond because he drove a car that could drive on land, then when needed go underwater. Auto experts were impressed with it but they weren't sure it was practical. The thing I would like to see is flying cars because people can travel to other continents. Also it will make traveling easier because no more pollution of gas. Another reason is that you can park anywhere yo want too like your roof. last reason is that it won't take up space on the street because it will start out small but still has room in it.

  7. A Swiss company called Rinspeed Inc invented a very amazing car called sQuba. It can run on land and under water! The CEO of Rinspeed Inc got the idea from James Bond, because he has a car that could go under water and become an airtight submarine. It goes 77 Miles per hour on land, and 3 miles per hour underwater. It can go 30 feet underwater. In the car there are compressed air tanks, but you still need to wear a wetsuit just in case of an emergency. The sQuba's electric motors are powered by lithium-ion batteries, which are small, light, and powerful.
I think it would be cool to have a mini ride that could fit in your house. I love rides and roller coasters, but unfortunately I can only go once or twice a year. The invention would be about 8 feet tall to that it could fit in your house. If could fit about 2 or 3 people in it, and it would be a mini pod. It would spin you upside down, twist turn and shake you. If would have a long lasting battery so that you wouldn’t have to replace it that much, and you could ride it several times a day for a month. Wouldn’t that be so cool?

  8. I read about the invention of the swimming car, the sQuba, designed/created by a Swiss company, Rinspeed Inc. It can travel on land and in the water. On land, the maximum speed is 77 miles per hour, on the surface of the water, 3 miles, and in the depths (up to 30 feet in depth) 1.8 miles. The car is a convertible to exit quickly if needed, and is equipped with air tanks. Auto experts, however, deem it unpractical. “Other than some kind of a movie situation, for Bond-like stuff with lots of gimmicks, I can’t imagine [the sQuba] will have any practical value,” said John Cabaniss of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers. However, their are many innovative uses of the car that can set a precedent for future technology, such as the battery, which is lithium-ion; small, light, and powerful, they build fuel efficiency. The car itself is set as a concept car. Also, “They might sell as toys for rich people, perhaps,” said Frank Rinderknecht, the CEO of Rinspeed Inc.
An invention I would like to see and pitch to Will.i.am. is a solar-powered battery that would power a car on solar energy. However, I would like to see the battery endure and be able to trap solar power to use in emergency circumstances. (Example: nighttime.) All in all, I would like to see a regular-sized battery, and power the car for more than and hour, and trap solar power for later uses. It might, however, serve as a concept car more than a useful car.

  9. The article I read was called "A Car That Swims". This article was about a car company in Switzerland that can drive on land and underwater. On land it can go 77 miles per hour (mph) and under water it can go no more than 1.8 mph. Not so fast right. Underwater it can plow through the water at a depth of 30 feet. This company was inspired by the James Bond movies where he uses these types of cars. Unfortunately this car isn’t being sold yet because there’s only one made, so far. What I do know is that to make this car you need 1.5 million dollars, so I’m guessing the price will be around that number.

Something I would like to see invented would be a solar panel car. This car would be made out of solar panels so you wouldn’t have to waste money on gas or a new battery. If a battery is needed all you would have to do would buy a battery and place it in the front trunk. This car would be very useful and money saving. I would be very impressed and satisfied if they really did invent this car. Wouldn't that be cool?

  10. Recently a company called Terrafugia has created an amazing invention. Those who are familiar with the television show the Jetsons you know of there flying car. Terrafugia has made it a reality. It is a Light Sport Aircraft and it’s the size of an RV. It is retractable wings that allow it to fly and drive. Although it costs around 200,000 dollars to buy, it will save lots because there’s no need to rent a hanger, or leave you car at the airport. Make sure to watch the skies for Terrafugia Transition.

If I could invent anything it would be a food and liquid generator. You would put your hand on a scanner and it will read you mind. Your food or drink will immediately begin generating in the atom chamber, a chamber full of Adams that are constantly multiplying. They will begin to take shape into your food or drink. I would create it because millions around the globe are starving, this will keep them from being hungry. I know most of you are thinking, but how will they afford it. Well it will be amazingly cheap, so everyone can afford it. Now no one will die of hunger ever again.

  11. The company Rinspeed has invented a car that runs on land and in water. They called it the sQuba. They got the idea from a James Bond movie. Rispeed called the car the first real submersible car. It can travel on land or underwater. To make the car, Rinspeed took a real car and added 2 more motors. The above-ground car motor powers the car on land, while the other two power the car underwater. Also, they used lithium-iron batteries that will help us with our future. The car cost approximately $1.5 million to make so the makers of the car do not know how much the car will sell for. They estimate that only very rich people will buy them.
Wouldn’t it be cool if you had a light that could turn off and on at the sound of your voice? It could go where ever you needed it to be. No more climbing the stairs when you’re looking for that lamp. You wouldn’t have to raise your arm to turn off that darn switch. Wouldn’t that be cool?

  12. My invention is a window that can get lighter and darker. Instead of needing lights or shades in the day time you can just make the window darker or lighter with a sliding light switch. Also at night if you want to sleep in you can make the windows dark then the sun won’t get in your eyes when you are sleeping. The window will also have a timer on it so if you need to wake up at a certain time it will get light when you want it to in the morning. The window will be solar powered so the outside part of the window there will be solar powers.

  13. There is a car that runs on land and water. The man that thought of this name is Frank Rinderknecht. This car name is sQuba. The sQuba runs 77mi p/h. When the car is in the it slows down to 3mi p/h. The can is convertible so people who drive the car and the people who are in it should wear bathing suits.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could use a laptop that was functional in the water? People who love to their laptop and always on it it would be very cool. You could go to any water park or even A.C with your water proof laptop. When your there you don't have to worry about it getting wet! They would be soooooo cooooooooool !!!!!!

  14. The Car That Swims:
A Swiss company has invented a car that runs on land and underwater. It’s called the “sQuba.” Frank Rinderknecht is the CEO of Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc. and thought about making a car that does outrageous things like a car that dives into water. He was inspired by one of his idols-famed movie star James Bond. Rinderknecht has been waiting 30 years to recreate this car. Rinspeed calls the sQuba the first real submersible car. The sQuba has a top land speed of about 77 miles per hour. It slows down to about 3 miles per hour on the surface of the water. Underwater, it runs at 1.8 miles per hour. The car is able to run underwater because of the design of its motors. They made sure that if anything happened it would be an easy car to get out of.

An invention I would like to see is one, have a mirror that can take pictures. A mirror that can take pictures because some people like taking pictures and look at themself in the mirror. Two, if possible, make the glue on an envelope have flavors so when you lick the envelope to close it you will be enertained by the taste. Three, a dislike button on facebook. Many people want that button on facebook.

  15. In my article it was about a flying car. Although the car is a lot of money. It also has great gas mileage 30 miles per gallon the same mileage as a small car. It also flies under 10,000 feet so it is safe from storms. At this point the plane car is working on meeting the FAA’s regulations but in a little while in my be the new thing.
If I were to make an invention I would make a tablet sort of thing that is just a panel of glass that also has holographs. It would be the new Ipod or laptop. It would include Apps and other tools. It will overrule all other technology. It could be a combined phone laptop and mp3 player available in many sizes. Why keep track of so many electronics if you only need one of my new Glass-Go’s.

  16. In 2008 inventor Rainspead invented the first automobile to function in and out of water. This invention comes from the CEO of this company's idol, James bond. The idea come from a movie where James Bond drove a car that could travel on land and, when needed, plunge into water and become an airtight submarine. The sQuba has a top land speed of about 77 miles per hour but slows down to about 3 miles per hour on the surface of the water and 1.8 miles per hour underwater. The sQuba is able to function underwater because of the designs of the motors. To make it the inventors stared with a simple spots car and added several other motors.
Wouldn’t it be cool if.......there was an invention that allowed people to float, not necessarily fly but you could hover any where that you wanted. You could invent it by using magnets. For example there could be a magnetic floor and then you could wear shoes that are also magnets. I’m not sure how useful this invention would be but say that you couldn’t walk and you went around in a wheelchair, instead you could float around!

  17. On teenbiz I had read the article “Love These Gloves?” It was about these two pairs of gloves that helped people do certain things. One of the pairs of gloves helped people learn and play the piano. It was called the “Piano Touch.” The other pair made it easier for people to do things on their founds withought having to take off your gloves. Those gloves where called “Tavo Gloves.” In my opinion both of them where incredibly useful inventions although there where some things that could have been made differently.

An invention that I think would be cool would be a stove that answered your commands. If you asked it for Mac and Cheese it would make you the best Mac and Cheese that it can. It would also save you time. When you come back from school and you want a snack all you have to do is ask. While it makes your snack you can start your homework and be done sooner. Parents would enjoy it to because not only would they not have to make dinner it would give them more time to be with their whole family. Plus it would teach kids good manners, because when they’d ask for something to eat they would have to say please and thank you or else they wouldn’t get what they wanted.

  18. In Switzerland they invented a car that can go on land and underwater. It is called the sQuba. They got the idea from a James Bond movie. On land it goes about 77 miles per hour and underwater about 1.8 miles per hour. It is a convertible sports car. It can go underwater because of its motors. It has 3 motors. Car experts say that it isn’t very practical. Only rich people would be able to get it.

I think that a machine that could predict if you were going to have a disease would be very good. For example, if you were going to have cancer it would tell you. Then you would be able to try to prevent it. If you couldn’t prevent it then you would know earlier and start treatment against it. Everyone would be tested when they are born. This invention could save lives.

  19. I read about the swimming car invention the invention was called sQuba. The sQuba can go on land and underwater. The inventor of this car is Rinderknecht. Rinderknecht is the head of Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc.Rinderknecht calls the sQuba the first real submersible. It travels like a submarine either on top of water and even submerged underwater. On land it goes at about 77 miles an hour and underwater it goes 1.8 miles an hour. The reason that it run underwater is because the way that the motors are structured. The sQuba can go down up to 30 feet below the surface. Before you get in the car you have to wear a swimsuit because the car is a convertible so the passengers can get out of the car quickly in case of an emergency. Also inside the car are tanks of air so the passengers can breath underwater.

I think it would be really cool to have a machine that helps you find things so you say what you are looking for. Then you wait about 10 seconds and then it tells you where the thing is and how to get there. So then you do not have to take a long time looking for the machine tells you where the object of thing is. The best part would be that it had a flash light on the top so if it tells you to go someplace dark you can turn on the flashlight at the top and you can see where you are going and you find what you are looking for.

  20. A new type of car was invented, the Transition, a car-plane. The Transition is a small plane that can fold up its wings, turning into a car. The car was made by a company called Terrafugia. The idea of the car-plane was a from a 60s television show called the Jetsons. One of the main characters, George Jetson, has a flying car that can zoom over the traffic in the sky. Unlike the show, the flying car doesn’t have a launch button and has wings that can fold up on its side in a matter of seconds. The flying car needs a runaway to land and take off, like other planes, but is safer and easier to maneuver in than regular smaller planes. The car-plane can be driven/flown by pilots with different levels of experience and can only fly below 10,000 feet in the air. It doesn’t fly through storms and flies below storms, making it safe.

An invention that I think would be worth pitching to will.i.am would be a cell phone that can do almost anything. The cellphone would be able to do all of the things that a regular cell can do, but much more. It would be able to send you places by a press of the button! Some things that annoy people the most about their phones are two of many things, battery and slowness. This new cellphone would have a long-lasting battery that could last up to two weeks! Plus, the cell wouldn’t have to make you wait for longer than a second! Not only would this phone have mostly everything, it would also be water proof and indestructible! The new cellphone could also change color, as well as background, and can convert into different sizes to your liking! The cell phone would have settings that you can choose to convert the phone to touch screen, slide, flip, etc. I think that this cell phone would be an amazing invention!

One project that I would like to pitch to the world would be a magic ball. A ball that could convert into any type of ball in the world. For example if you wanted to play football at one moment then at the next you wanted to play baseball you could convert it into that ball. This would help the world because some kids in the world can afford to get many types of balls so this would really help kids that don’t have the money to buy many things. Plus it would be really fun.

    2/13/12

The invention I read about was the underwater car called the “sQuba”. It also works on land but it goes rather slowly underwater. Rinderknecht was inspired by James Bond. To make one it costs 1.5 million er.dollars. Some rich people could buy them as toys said rinderknecht. It would be interesting during some time when you are at the beach and see a car underwater.

One invention that I wish there was is a football that you can fix where it will land in the air. Like if the ball is slippery and you throw a bad pass you could adjust to be a good pass. You could throw it so yards and then throw it 300 yards now wouldn’t that be cool! Also if somebody fumbles it you could point it towards you from 10 yards away! That’s basically cheating, but it’d still be fun. That’s my dream invention.

If you can run fast you can run on water. You would be able to go around the world with out stopping but only for lunch or bathroom brakes.

The invention I read about was the invention of the sQuba a car that can power on land, above water and underwater. The creator of this invention is Rinspeed Inc in Geneva Switzerland. The CEO of the company Frank Rinderknecht was inspired by the convertible car/submarine from the famous movie James Bond. Drivers mighty want to wear wetsuits because the inside of the car is exposed to the elements. This is for safety precautions if there is an emergency and the passengers needed to exit quickly.

Wouldn’t it be cool if you had a computerized robot to inspire you to follow your dreams and build your self esteem? The robot would be connected to WiFi connectivity so it could give information on ways to make the next step in pursuing your dreams from online. My invention will give you compliments in areas where you feel insecure. The robot will be able to tell when you are feeling insecure and will know just the right things to say. The robot will motivate you to accomplish things and follow your dreams.

  26. After watching the inspirational James Bond, Frank Rinderknecht designed the sQuba. A car that can run on land and water! Though some may believe that the sQuba is impractical and an unnecessary vehicle, Rinderknecht still believed in his work. Since the car is a convertible, wet suits are highly recommended. It costs 1.5 million dollars to make, but there is no official price to sell the car. You may also need goggles to see. The car does have perks: the engine uses less fuel and it can go to 30 feet underwater. It can go 77 miles on land and 1.7 miles underwater. Since the car has three motors it allows the car to move on the water, below the water surface, and on land.

  27. The best invention would have to be cartoons. To me , cartoons made me build up an imagination because I would watch princesses and princes live happily ever after and want that kind of live. I grew up around fairy tales and a fantasy world. Some people will say that this invention is stupid but when you think about it, what helped you say your alphabets and numbers? Sesame Street. Who taught you how to be kind and how to share? The teletubbies. Who taught you that sock puppets can be completely awesome? Lamb chop. When I say cartoons I don't mean the new cartoons, I mean the ones that you actually grew up with.

  28. I read the teenbiz article “A Car That Swims” and it is a about a James Bond-inspired car that was invented by Frank Rinderknecht, CEO of Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc. He invented a car that can travel over land and water and underwater too. The car was convertible so that the people that were inside of the car could see the water around them while they were traveling. The car has three motors that allow it to plow through the water at a depth of 30 feet. Although because the car is a convertible, whoever is in the car when it is underwater will be completely exposed to the elements. This means that they will want to wear goggles and not wear their “best clothes”.

An invention that I think would be awesome is a bag like the one that Marry Poppins has so that it can fit anything and you can just pull things out of the bag. For example, you could travel with your whole dresser of clothes and your entire closet of clothes and your toiletries closet too. It would save a lot of money on the plane because the bag is small and you won’t have a huge baggage fee. Also, it wouldn’t weigh a lot so that it would be easy to carry.

I read the article " How Do You Like Your Music " It's about fans of vinyl records;A 16-year-old girl Sarah McCarthy is interesting in old CD records.Vinyl records account for a small percentage of profits U.S. music sales. Probably, because of the young music fans and they all seem to own digital music.Vinyl sales have approximately doubled in the last couple of year by the most of young people.Sarah owns and iPod that is filled with digital downloads. She also has a vinyl collection of 250 records. Sarah found a dusty stash of records in her grandfather's basement. To Sarah there's nothing like the music played on a record player."Listening to Jimi Hendrix on my iPod doesn't capture his endlessly deep guitar solos quite like [an] LP," Sarah said. Sarah's interest in the music of past generation spread quickly to her friends. They'd join Sarah in seeking out records from classic bands.Sarah turned her friends on to it so much that they'd come over her house and listen to it with her.Sarah turned her friends on to it so much that they'd come over her house and listen to it with her.14-year-old Nick uses his old uncle's urntable to play records as with Sarah and her friends Nick's interest in music past spread to his friends.Matt Melvin is a 22-year-old college student. he began taking vinyl serious after discovering his dad's record collection. His buddies encourages him also they search of vinyl recordings from newer artists. Melvin says he is always looking for hard-to-find records.Young people are leading the way back to vinyl and turntables, they want the thrill of hunting for the perfect world!!

I would help for an invention for kids that don't know how to read and i think that they should make an electronic device for the invention. I would help invent something like a reading device that helps kids with comprehension, because it'll be helpful for me!

  30. The Transition is a hybrid. It’s half car and half plane so you can fly and drive it! This car-plane can fly up to 10,000 feet in the air, and since it’s so compact it can fly right under storms when the weather gets bad. Also the Transition has a tail instead of a trunk, which does make this car-plane look a lot more different than usual cars but it takes up about as much space as a small recreational vehicle. When the Transition is a car, its gas mileage is about 30 miles per gallon, which makes it fuel-efficient and the plane has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,430 pounds. And if you’re interested in this car-plane it’s at price starts off at $194,000 without GPS and radio.

Wouldn’t it be cool if there were shoes that could make you jump really high? All you would have to do is bend your knees and jump. You would be able to jump thousands of feet high. High enough to touch even the tallest skyscrapers and mountains. And since these shoes don’t use gas or anything that’s harmful it’s eco-friendly. Also with these shoes you would be able to easily get to one place to another.

  31. Kia the CRAZY SCIENTIST INVENTOR!!!!! XPFebruary 15, 2012 at 7:09 PM

On Teenbiz.com, I read A Flying Car... Finally!, an article about a new car that can, in addition to driving, fly. The new vehicle is called the Transition, and is made by a company called Terrafuga. While it doesn’t quite look like the flying cars from The Jetsons, this new car eliminates the need for a ride to and from airports so it is mainly for pilots. It is classified as a Light Sport Aircraft, so it can be flown by pilots with varying flying experience, but you still need to know how to fly a plane, so don’t expect one in every household driveway from now on. However this new car was launched in July 2010, so if you’re lucky, you might see one on the road!

If I had to pitch an invention to will.i.am I would probably pitch a self-charging battery. I don’t have a clue on how to build it (I'm not much of an engineer), but in theory, it would charge itself when the device it was being used in was off or on sleep mode. For example, a phone with a self-charging battery would charge itself when you set it on lock or sleep mode, or when you turned it off. This would eliminate the problem that many of us have when our phones or our iPods shut down while we’re in the middle of something, even though we have had it off or on sleep mode most of the day. I think this invention would be useful, and it could sell to big companies like Apple or HTC. I know that I would buy a product with a self-charging battery. Would you?

  32. We’ll the article I read was about a flying car. The company who created these cars is called Terrafugia. Terrafugia is selling the flying cars to private pilots as convenient and cheaper way to fly. The transition is another way of transportation to get to and from the airport. when you land you can just fold the wings back and drive it like its a regular car. The air crafted is designed mostly to fly under 10,000 feet because its much safe and you fly below storms. It can not take place on a road or drive way because since its like a plan it needs a runway to take off and land.

I would like to see something that helps us understand animals or read their mind invented. I would want someone to invent a collar like on the movie up so we can hear what the dog is thinking. I would want this to be invented because sometimes my cat will tap me and I will think she wants food and water but that don’t be the case. I will also know what animals be thinking when they are interacting with another animal or when they be making noisy to the other gender. I think that would be cool and now people would know what they pet wants when they are mopping around.

  33. One of the best inventions were made by the Space Shuttle. They created things that made baby formula much more healthier and better for infants. They helped keep astronauts up with their weight because when you're in space you can loose the strength in your bones and become weak. They made the first space ship as well.

An invention I hope that can be made in the future is a candy that can make you fly for 24 hours until you'll need to eat another to keep going. That would be awesome. =)

I want something so you can maybe call it facetalk and see the persons face and talk or maybe a phone where you can say answer or reject calls and text or say what to text and the phone will do it for you. I think that would get big and others would pruchase it I know I would like to.

  35. The article that I read was "A Car That Swims" it was about a company in Switzerland inventing a car that can go underwater name "sQuba". Frank Rinderknecht got this idea from a James Bond spy movies. When sQuba is on land it run 77 miles an hour and, underwater it runs 1.8 miles an hour. The sQuba would cost over $1.5 million only a few people could buy the sQuba becasue they can afford it.

Would'nt it be cool if there was wheels on houses and we could go from place to place with them. Also we can use them instead of cars. Of course there would be a lot of traffic and stuff but so what I think it's awesome.(got this idea from a commercial)

An invention that I think would be awesome is a remote that you type what you want and it shows up where you want it. For example, if you left your homework at home you can type it on the remote and it will show up where you want it. Also, if you forgot a accessory at your house when you were traveling you could type what it was and it shows up where you are at or where you want it to be. With this invention you can always have your stuff where ever you are.

  37. Wouldn't it be awesome if you could go to school, not only in a sports car but underwater? If you thought that your parents' car was cool listen to this: there is a car that can go on land and underwater too. Even though it might be a little slow, it can still go on the highway with its top speed of 77 mph. Floating on the water it can go a sluggish 3 mph and underwater a painfully slow 1.8 mph. It is not a very practical invention as pointed out by some inspectors of this new car but could be very useful in the breakthroughs of future underwater electrical cars. It is a car that costs 1.5 million dollars and won't be very useful until it becomes faster and cheaper but has already influenced 3 other models with wacky names and features that are revolutionizing the way we think about cars and how they can change our world for the better.

This invention is an impractical invention but a very good inspiration for many inventors because even though it cost 1.5 million dollars and can’t go very fast at all, it shows us that we can do anything if we try. It also shows us that we can change and improve on inventions.

I believe that the best invention of all time is the harnessing of energy. Energy such as gravity causes water to flow which causes a waterwheel to spin a rock which grinds wheat. For example, even the simplest invention of the wheel was a great invention because it harnessed natural power and made the physical efforts of humans much less necessary such as carrying rocks, constructing buildings and creating other inventions. The power we think of today comes from nuclear power plants or massive generators but what causes that? The harnessing of naturally occurring energy such as gravity, the wind or even the sun and the splitting of the atom is what generates man-made energy. The energy we think of as “energy” today is the electricity that is taken from coal and nuclear power plants, solar generators, wind mills and even at its core a waterwheel but this is all electricity gathered from the occurrences of nature such as flowing water, wind or the sun. This is what powers our inventions today such as telephones, toaster ovens and the drill at the dentist.

  38. Terrafugia has been working with the FFA and the NHTSA to reach the driving and flying regulations, so Transition will be able hit the market by 2011.

When I went to Universal Studios, they had a pool that plays music under water so I know its possible! This would really improve lives of people around the world because it would open many possibilities of having fun.

  39. The article I read was about the issue between MGA and Matell. They were at court for ownership of the billion dollar doll line Bratz. Carter Bryant was Matell’s doll designer. Matell claimed that Bryant took their idea to MGA. When the case first went to court in 2008 the jury awarded Matell 100 million dollars. In the 2011 retrial the jury decided that Matell’s claims were false and awarded the company MGA 88 million dollars. Later the judge determined the fate of the billion dollar doll line.
If I could invent anything that could change my community even the world it would be a machine that reads your mind and types for you. All the time I have these great ideas in my head and it sounds so good. But when I’m ready to type it doesn’t sound like how I want it to. That’s the invention I would like to see happen.

  40. In this article the invention was re- inventing vinyl records. They now are being sold alot more than how they were. Many young kids are interested and prefer the vinyl record rather than a CD, or to their Ipod. Actually, In 2009 about 2.5 million vinyl LPs were sold. This number is up 33 percent from 2008. Many fans are intrested in the classics like Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan.
If I could make any invention I would make a robot that would do whatever you would want. For example, if you want something cleaned, all you have to do is call you’re robot to clean it up. If you wanted a snack you could call your robot to go get you one. Unfortunately, this invention would only prove how lazy our generation is but the idea of something like that actually happening would be awesome.

  41. A Swiss company has invented a car that runs on land and underwater. They called it the "sQuba." They were inspired to make this car from one of Rinderknecht’s idols, James Bond. He saw in one of his movies that he was driving a car that could go under the surface of water, but still drive on land. Rinderknecht says that he was been waiting 30 years to recreate that car in the movie and he did. This car is considered as the first real submersible car meaning, that the car can go under water. It moves like a submarine either under the water or on the surface of it. The sQuba has a top speed on land at about 77 miles per hour (mph), and slows down about 3 mph on the surface of water. While underwater it runs at 1.8 mph. This car can run underwater because of its design of motors. Rinspeed made this car by first starting with a sports cars with a regular car engine then, it replaced the engine with several electrical motors. They also put 3 motors in the back of the car and one motor gives the car power on land, and the other 2 gives the car power underwater. Now the car can go as low as 30 feet below sea level. The design of the car is a convertible meaning it doesn’t have a roof because, it allows the passengers to get out easily if there’s an emergency. Also drivers and passengers will need a wet suits because you will be completely exposed to the element of water when you are under the surface of water. As a bonus the car has tanks of compressed air similar to the ones for scuba diving so you’ll be able to breath underwater. The car’s motors are powered by lithium-ion batteries and Cabaniss likes that about the car. These batteries are light, small, but powerful and these batteries help the car use less fuel. The car could be available to consumers but it cost more than $1.5 million to make the sole sQuba in existence, plus it’s hard to control a car underwater. This car has a high price on it so it could sell like toys but, only for rich people.

An invention I would make would be a flying car because it help people fly all around the world without having to fly with other people. The flying car will take away the wait you would have to have when you’re at an airport.. The car would take a lot of engineering but it’ll be worth it because, the car will be amazing. You wouldn’t need to take an airplane ever again, as long as you could afford it. The flying car would be the newest thing in automobiles, and airplanes might not be used as much anymore.

  42. My article was about a flying car. The car is a lot of money so not many people can own it. It has good gas mileage. 30 miles per gallon the same mileage as a small car. It flies under 10,000 feet so it is safe from storms. Right now the plane car is trying to meet the FAA’s standards.
If I were to make an invention I would make a pair of shoes that could let you move faster than anybody else. It would help the environment because then less people will have to use a car or bus.It would definitely help me get to school earlier.

  43. Something I would like to see is a car that swims. It's called a sQuba. It would in prove life because it could take people under to explore the deep of the ocean. Now me,I would invent a pair of shoes that can hover above ground. If we had those then we could expirence flight and fly along side the birds.Another reason is that we wouldn't have to fly on rely on planes, cars,or buses to get around to places we want to go.Say if you were in Philadelphia, you want to go to Washington. You would think that it's far away. But acually,it's not, when you have hover shoes. With those, you will be there in a flash.See,hover shoes will be a sinsation one day.I know it.

  44. My article is called “New science from space” by NASA. My invention is about how space shuttles helped the environment, people, and space. One thing they created was the Hubble Space Telescope and it let them see the world and create better maps and parts of the world nobody has even seen. More on the maps today are more accurate then they have been in the past and they have more details. A doctor helped create a tiny heart pump and it tested on astronauts which if you spent too much time in space you would get worse balance and bone strength weakens. The NASA studied algae and they found a nutrient that was only originally found in breast milk which is now in formula. Finally, NASA helped the environment, people, space, and how we learn about these things.

If I were to create something I would create sports equipment that is indestructible for a catcher and a football with a colts logo that can go 100 yards without stressing your arm and be a perfect accurate spiral every time and it never wares out. It would help the environment because it would save the amount of equipment used on a field and use the material for other items and the football would kill less pigs. It would definitely help baseball catchers and quarterbacks.

  45. A flying car named the Transition was created and it can drive on the road and fly like an airplane. It has wings that fold up when it’s not in flight and before it takes off wings fold down and it’s ready to go. But to fly you have to take it to an airport so it can take-off. The Transition was created by a company named Terafugia, the company thinks that giving the Transition to private pilots would be a more convenient way to fly. The Transition cost about $194,000 but if the customer wants extra accessories like a radio they will have to pay more money. Terafugia has been working with the FAA and the NHTSA to reach flying and driving regulations. By the end of 2011.

It would be great to have a pair of shoes that could make you fly just like the great god Hermes who has wings on his shoes. It would be a great way to get around and to get to were you need to faster. They would also be great for playing sports so you could fly around with ball and never be caught.

  46. My article was about a flying car. The flying car for obvious reasons it costs a great amount of money so not many people could afford it. It has good gas mileage. It flies under 10,000 feet and is safe to ride in storms. Although this car is being made it is still trying to meet the FAA's regulations and standards.

If i made an invention I would make a shirt that turned you invisible because it would be awesome to be able to spy on people and help people without them knowing.

  47. The article I read was about a car that could drive itself. They said they would use it for the army so it would prevent the the high percentage of death. They are still testing the car. The want to see if it can drive up a mountain of high altitude. They want to put the car out so people can buy it. They think it will stop car accidents.

If I were to make an invention it would be a replicator. So people could make copies of things and it would be eco-friendly. Instead of cutting down more trees people could make copies of paper and there would be no reason to cut down trees anymore. People could replicate personal belongings so they would have copies of things if the lose them. That would be my invention because I think it would help out the world.

  49. The Car That Swims

`The invention I read was about a car that can swim. It’s called sQuba. It was crated by Swiss designer Rinspeed Inc. They wanted to do something really different. So a swimming car would be the best thing to do. The sQuba came to be when Frank Rinderknecht, the CEO of the Swiss Company, got inspired by the famous movie spy James Bond. He has been waiting about 30 years to recreate that car. The sQuba can run on land 77 miles per hour. It slows down to about 3 miles per hour on the surface of the water. Underwater, it runs at 1.8 miles per hour. While it’s underwater, it goes 30 feet in depth. While it’s underwater you have to wear a scuba suit, because the car is a convertible and you’re clothes will get all wet. And you’ll have to have an extra pair of clothes, just in case. This invention may seem pretty useless, and it sort of is. I don’t think there may be a time when you’ll need to go under the water, but it helps the environment. The sQuba doesn’t run on as much fuel as regular cars. Instead they run on lithium-ion batteries. Now, since lithium-ion batteries are less harmful, they will start to make more cars like that. This car is available, but only to the riches of people. just to make the car took about $1.5 million dollars. So, if you buy it, it will probably cost a lot more. Because of it being so hard to make, there will only be a few of the in the world, so the price will be really high. But before it can be sold, the car stills needs to have a few things done.

An invention I would love to see is an undergarment, for men and women, that works as an air conditioner and a heater. A heater for in the winter and an air conditioner for in the summer. I want this to be an invention because, I like to feel refreshed. And having undergarments that work to help me achieve my goals of freshness, will feel good. Haven’t you said “Wow, it is hot in here.” or “Wow it is cold in here.”? And with this invention you don’t have to say that! You can just use the heater/freezer garment. It will work for anyone.

  50. By the end of 2011 a car-plane called Transition should be available to consumers with a price of $194,000. Transition is made by a company called Terrafugia. It is a car that is also a plane! The wings fold up on the sides for storage and take one minute to unfold. When flying, it stays below storms instead of flying through them like commercial planes. It is small enough to store in a garage at home and many pilots with different amounts of experience can fly it.

Wouldn’t it be cool if there was an invention that could dictate what you dream about? You would never have another night-mare! You could choose who is in your dream and what you do in it! All you would have to do is, before you go to bed, enter into the screen details you would like to dream about that night. You could dream that you are flying next to the birds! You could dream that you are a super hero! You could choose anything at all. Then you need to put on the light, comfortable helmet that sends the dreams to your head, relax, and go to sleep!

  52. The article I read today was a bout a car that could travel on land and water. It was inspired by a James Bond movie. The car is a convert able car that can travel on land and then travel on top of water. Then it can submerge up to 30 ft of water. This car is not yet available to the public and is very expensive to make. This invention is cool but many think it may not be useful to the public for it to go under water.
One invention that would be cool to invent would be jet shoes. You put on the shoes which can be used as regular shoes then turn them on and you can fly up to 30 ft in the air. They would come in a variety of styles including sneakers and boots. You would need a licence to operate them but you would only have to be 12 to get your licence. Wouldn’t it be cool to only have to put on some shoes and then you could flyyyy!

The invention i read about was the underwater car.The car has three engines, one for driving on land. The other two for under water. The cost to make one of these cars is about 1.5 million dollars. The car is not like a submarine car to be able to breath while driving so you would need oxygen tanks to be able to breathe. The car can go up to 77 miles per hour on land and three under water. The two engines that let the car run underwater are ran by lithium batteries so the car does not pollute the water, and more car companies are using lithium batteries for the environment.

  54. The invention that I read about is called the sQuba. I’m sure you have all dreamed about this invention. It is an submerging automobile. That means that you can drive on land with every other human being or you can drive with the fish. However, you would not be able to keep up with the fish. When submerged, the sQuba moves at an agonizingly slow 1.8 miles per hour. On average, we walk twice that speed. Plus, it is a convertible for safety measures. Therefore, you better not be wearing something nice or it will get soaked. But the car does supply tanks of compressed air so you don’t have to worry about breathing underwater. It is built with the body of a sports car so at least the fish will have to respect your cars looks.
I would love to see an invention that allows us to travel through solid objects . It is completely practical and would allow us to never lose a war. It would help the world. I would also enjoy inventing a headset that allows me to move objects with my mind and change an objects anatomy. I would be able control what people saw and how we saw the world. I would also be able to successfully create world peace. Our school could benefit if a rule enforcing robot was invented. Kind of like a realistic Robo-cop. My home would benefit from a free thinking robot that could clean things. A robot that was not programmed to clean certain things.

Its a really magnifying telescope that hepls astronomers see the part of the universe, that is visible from the moon, pretty clearly. This helps us get a better understanding of what the universe is like. Without this telescope the view of the universe would be fuzzy at its best.

Wouldn't it be cool if they had socks that didn't get wet in the rain and they lit up? Imagine on a rainy day your on your way somewhere and you step in a puddle and your socks don't get wet. That swims and drives. This is the new car of the generation. 2ND paragraph My invention’s purpose is to make an Eco friendly way to obtain electricity. The way I plan to do this is by putting a pulley on the railing of the stairs. When you walk up the stair you hold a comfortable hand rest and pull it up stairs. When you get up stair you go on with your day but the hand rest slowly goes down. Powering a generator that supplies electricity. This way you would be using the power in your body that usually goes to waste. And gain something from it. This idea with many others will help the environment majorly

The one invention I would liked to see is a Time Travel Machine. It would be really cool to be able to travel back in to the past and in to the future.I would love for it to be those kinds where you can walk around and see everything but no one cans see you and no one can see the time travel machine and your like a ghost so you can go through things. Also a fortune telller ball would be really cool too.

  58. Invention Patents Decreasing Due to Economy. The light bulb, the telephone, all important inventions from the US Patent and Trademark Office. But due to a struggling economy, inventors are hesitating to invest in a patent, and that is not good. We could be loosing valuable inventions and important advances in health, technology etc. But as we see the economy slowly improving, more people are coming out and putting inventions on the market (ex. James Norrod, CEO of Segway Inc.) so there is hope. This is just one of the many reasons we need to see the economy get better. But we can only wait and see.

My Idea is to Invent a company that buys small businesses when they go out of business. Then sell them to other people. They would give us the price of the business itself, then give us 8-10% of their earnings every month for 2 years.

This article is about a car that can transition into a airplane. This invention is just like both. For example, to fly you have to have a runway, but this airplane can only go up to 10,000 feet in the air. The plane has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,430 pounds. Also the car works the same just like every other car, but this car is special because its fuel-efficient and the plane has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,430 pounds.

  60. I think that the coolest and best invention would be the electrical car because they may run a lot of electricity but they don't use gas. If a car that doesn't use gas were all over then we'd be helping the Earth for it to be a better place. Cars running on gas exert or let out gases and fumes that are hurting the Earth and I think it's also causing Global Warming. I think that the best invention would be a car that could do anything you wanted it to do like go under water, Fly, or maybe even things that are unimaginable. That's the best invention.
