Students,

Welcome to our class blog 7 Speaks!  For our first entry of the year, in honor of the Book Fair this week (don't forget to visit on Thursday from 1:00-1:30), I'd like you to discuss your identity as a reader, and reading in general, by responding to at least three (3) of the prompts below.  As you compose your first commentary, remember to keep our commenting guidelines in mind.  The purpose of our class blog is to start a discussion, so try to read and respond (at least once) to your peers' posts as well.  Your commentary is due on Friday and should be at least two MEATY paragraphs in length.

Keep in mind that we cannot indent our paragraphs in our commentaries, so make sure to skip a line between paragraphs instead.

Have fun, good luck, let's blog!

  • Do you remember when you first learned to read?  How old were you?  Who taught you?  Describe your earliest reading memory.
  • What was your favorite book, or who was your favorite author, as a child?  Did you ever return to one book again and again?  Do you still enjoy this book/author today as a 7th grader?
  • Who is your favorite literary character?  What do you love about this character/What makes them your favorite?
  • What is the definition of a good book for you?
  • Describe the book you are currently reading.  Include the title and author and tell us about it without giving away any spoilers.  Who would you recommend this book to? (Let's share some titles and get reading!)
  • Have you read The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins?  What are your thoughts on this book being made into a movie?  Do you think the film version will do the book justice?  Why or why not?
  • What other film versions of books have you seen and loved (or hated)?

  1. I think the first time i learned how to read was when i was reading a baby book. I think I was 3. I taught myself how to read. i just grabbed a book because i was bored and I just start sounding out the words.
An good book for me is when the book is not boring. When it makes me want to read it more. When it interesting in the beginning and end. When the book makes me laugh. When the book is a book i want to recommend someone else to read.
Other film versions i saw was the lighting thief and the city of ember.

  2. The first time I learned how to read I was 5 that was my first year of kindergarten. My kindergarten teacher tought me her name was M.pualina she was my favorite teacher it was a little hard because I was learned how to read in Spanish I don't really remember what book I read but I know it was a fun book. One of my earliest memories of me starting to learn how to read was when I got home from school and my mom had told me to go to my little library that I had in my room and I remember what book it was called little piggy something i forgot what the rest was called but me and my mom and dad they sat next to me and I started reading the letters and trying to pronounce them right when ever I couldn't understand how to read the word my dad would help me. think we read the book for about an hour and the book only had like 15 pages but after a while I got it and as I keeped on practicing I learned how to read to whole book on my own

  3. My favorite book as a child was the Junie B. Jones novel. I loved those books because they were unique and made me excited whenever I saw one that I had not read yet. I don't read the books today as a 7th grader because I like to challenge myself in reading.

The definition of a good book is when a book has you hanging off the edge of your seat, sweating in suspense. The book has to make me not want to put it down and re-read it.

The book that I am currently reading is Desert Crossing which is a book about a young girl, her teenage brother and his friend going to Phoenix to visit his dad when they stumble upon a dead girl on the side of the road. The brother goes to jail because the police believed that he did it. The book is a nail biting suspense that will have you dying to skip pages. I would recommend anyone who hasn't read this book that is interested in mysterious books.

  5. I first learned how to read when I was 6 years of age. I had to be in 1 grade by the time I had fluency in picture books. my mother and my teacher taught me how to read and to also know the meaning of what words i was reading. That's how i got on track with my reading. I remember my Teacher telling me if i was to read a whole book by myself without needing help and also to write what i learned about she would by me an hello kitty book. I read it and got the book it was the best day of my life!

My favorite book is the great green notebook of Katie Roberts. I really don't remember the author name but i know that's my favorite book. i know this because it was interesting fun and creative. it stood out to me because it talked about her life story which i admire. i would recommend this book to anybody and everybody that loves to know people life story!

  6. I don’t remember when I first learned to read, I think I was 3 or 4 years old, but I do remember the first real book I ever read. It was Heidi by… I don’t remember the author. I read it alone and I was so happy when I finished! I jumped up and ran to tell my mom and she was happy too. (Mostly because she didn’t have to tell me word meanings anymore) I think I also read The Secret Garden and The Little Princess at that time.

The book I’m reading now is If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. I’m re-reading it because I didn’t find anything else to read yesterday. It’s a mystery about two kids, a secret society, an evil group of old people, and a homunculus. If you don’t know what a homunculus is then look it up. I think this series should be turned into a movie. Some other film versions of movies I like are Twilight, Chocolat, and Harry Potter. I hate most film versions of movies though.

my favorite book that am reading now is dork diaries and its funny because its about a girl who is a dork and she gose to a new school and she trys to make new friends and then she makes a big fool out of herself and its realy funny

  8. I remember when i first began to read. My parents bought me a little yellow box of beginner reading books from a scholastic magazine at my preschool. My dad forced me to sit down for what felt like hours at the kitchen counter reading stupid things like "he has a hat she has a mat he has a fan she has a pan." finally by the end of the night I could read!

My favorite book when I was young was "from the mixed up files of mrs. basil E. frankweiler." I loved this book and will occasionally read it from time to time. Speaking of this book they made it into a movie which may I say might have been one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life. Yes I even mean worse than the Goosebumps movies.

  9. Hey everybody! My favorite books as a child were Wimberly Worries and Chrysanthemum. They are both written by Kevin Hanks. Now in 7th grade I still enjoy his work, I recently read another book by him, Olives Ocean. A book for young adults, it is realistic fiction. This just shows how a author can write about many things and to many groups of people.

I remember first learning to read with my mom. She was reading to me and I started to read with her. I was 6 when I learned how to read. My earliest memory is reading Junie B Jones with my mom. The book I am currently reading is Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt. It is about 4 children trying to their Great-aunts house after their mother abandons them in a mall parking lot. After they find out Aunt Cilla is dead what will they do? Read the book to find out. I definitely recommend this book to everybody it will touch your heart.

  10. My favorite book as a child and as a 7th grader is lighting Thief. I love this book because it has action and a adventure. I will always love this book and never get tired of it!!!!!!!!!!! The film of a book i really loved is the movie of Lighting Thief. It still has adventure and action in the story but, there are new characters, and different stuff happens. Love the book but, i love the movie more than the book. The definition of a good book for me is a book that keeps me on my toes, like action and adventure stories. Always keeps me guess. When i start reading i don't want to stop. If i read the book I'm only focused on it and nowhere else but, the book I'm reading. If u can find a book like that tell my so i can read. If i like it, I'll thank you for helping me find a book i really like. Well, that's all i have for today. Talk to you later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. The book I am currently reading is called Eldest. Eldest is the second book in a trilogy. The first book is Eragon and the third book is Brisingr. This trilogy was written by a 15 year old boy named Christopher Paolini. The trilogy is about a farm boy who was hunting one day and found a stone, the stone hatched to be a baby dragon, even though there was supposedly only one dragon left in the world. Eragon has to master the bow, his sword and magic while on a torturous quest to help stop the king with his master Brom. I would recommend this book to any reader who loves adventure, page turning books.
I have read The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. I think it’s a good idea to make The Hunger Games into a movie except not the other two books. I think the movie will be worse than the book because there is a lot in that book that they will have to be able to fit into an hour and a half. I loved the book Cirque Du freak. It is probably the best book I have ever read, but the movie was one of the worst movies I have ever seen! Everything was changed and they combined the first and second book into one movie even though there is so much in both books!

  12. A definition of a good book would be something that you will be able to read and have no words that you cant say or understand.
It most be able to draw you in and makes you want to keep on reading. One of my books just pull me in and I get socked into reading more than 3steeps!
Books are ways to explore information about the word,or just read those funny anime comics, read adventures by Arthur's and last read just to enjoy a good book.
Everyone has a good book or books they like. So don't say I hate reading , you just need a good book and you'll love reading.

I really don't have a fave book.... I like most books, except for those silver, and gold, and bronze, I hate them o.e

  14. My favorite book is The hunger games By Suzanne Collins. I read this book while I was in fifth grade. I have read this book quite a few times. As a seventh grader I still love the book and plan on rereading the entire series soon. When finding out they were making a movie I had mixed feelings. I knew I had to see the movie but I did not think it would do the book any justice. I thought this because in all cases, in my opinion, the movie is an embarrassment to the book. This is probably because you can't include everything in the movie that you did in the book. I Still think the movie will be good on its own.
I have seen quite a few book based movies, but the Harry Potter series is by far the best. All though they weren't very good compared to the book they were still fantastic. all in all I personally, along with many others, loved them.

  15. The first time i ever started to read was when i was eight.I had taught my self in my house all day without doing nothing.MY oldies reading memory was when i saw my mom writing a whole lot cause of her college work.

My favorite character is king Kong from the book. The things that make him my favorite is because he cares for some ladies and don't hurt good people.

My definition of a good book is that you have to make the reader like the book that you write about.

  16. Hello! My first experience in reading was very cool.It was in Pre-k the books where on pictures, words, numbers. We had read the coconut book based on mostly numbers and words very cool.I started at the age of 3.I enjoyed the experience I had at the time.I had a lady named Ms. George she was my favorite teacher I have learned alot.

My favorite book is a book named Amulet. Its cool it catches my attention it is a picture book but with lots of words. I think that these pictures tell me what the story is about without even reading.I have the whole collection of the books. I love to read books like that it catches my eye its interesting. I first saw this book in a English Language Arts class in the 6th grade. Someone was reading it I said can I borrow this book from you and I enjoyed it very well.

My idea of a good book is a book with meaning and purpose . It has to catch your eye make you feel it. I love fantasy,horror/sci-fi books all kinds. I think reading helps you in life you will need this skill everywhere you go no matter what. I have learned very much in reading it has taught me alot.

    Goodbye fellow bloggers!!!!

  17. 1. What was your favorite book, or who was your favorite author, as a child? Did you ever return to one book again and again? Do you still enjoy this book/author today as a 7th grader?

    • My favorite book is The Last Olympian by Rick Roirdan. He is one of my favorite author. Yes I have reread one his books. I also still enjoy all of his books as a 7th grader.

    2. Who is your favorite literary character? What do you love about this character/what makes them your favorite?
    • My favorite character is Percy Jackson. He’s my favorite because he’s a brave person who likes to go or takes quests.
    3. What other film versions of books have you seen and loved (or hated)?
    • The lightning thief movie was good but they need to do a better job of putting all the details from the book to the movie. They also need to make another movie for all the books.

  19. I think the definition of a good book, is a book that keeps the reader interested and entertained. Also good books are the ones where the author saves the answers to the questions for the end of the book. Another idea is a book where the climax is not too steep. I also love books where there are a lot of cliff hangers that leave you wondering and waiting for the next in the series or by the author.

The book I am reading right now is called This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. I've read a lot of her books and let me tell you they are AMAZING! Anyways, its about this girl named Remy who meets this boy and hates him from the time when they meet. She also cant wait to give him her "I hate you speech" but finds it too difficult. There's just something about him... (no this is not the actual summary.) I would recommend this book to girls who like to read about girls that have hardships in their lives or who have experienced pains or hardships in their life stories.

Yes I have read the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (the whole trilogy actually!) and I really loved it. I think it was a good idea to make it into a movie, but I also think it will be really hard because there's a lot of unrealistic stuff in it. I really don't think the book will be as good as the book because (like I said) there's a lot of unrealistic stuff in it.

  20. A definition for a good book is when it has you guessing what's going to happen next. Also when all you want to read is the book and never want to put it down. Another thing is that you feel like your in the book.

I really do not have a favorite book because I like a lot of books. But I do have a favorite series. The series is called The Mortal Instruments. The series is by Cassandra Clare. The series is really good and I loved reading it. There is four books to the series. They are all very good and I hope she makes more.

The book I am reading now is called Deadly Little Games. It is by Laurie Faria Stolarz. The book is about a girl named Camelia and a boy named Ben. Who are boyfriend and girlfriend. They both possess the power of psychometry. The ability to see the future through touch. For Ben, the gift is a frightening liability. While for Camelia it is mysterious. When she works with clay, her hands sculpt messages her mind doesn't yet comprehend. But usually it is an object from the future. But before both of them have fully grasp their abilities a danger comes, that involves Ben's enemy. Adam and Ben used to be best friends but that changed. Adam and Camelia used to date but now are friends. Camelia is afraid of losing Ben while trying to save Adam. So far this book is really good and I can not wait to see how all this unfolds.

(my mom taught me). the first book i have read was goblins in the castle by bruce coville.i dont think they have a movie about it. but i know it has a character name igor, and i think everyone knows him.another book i like is reaper man by terry pratchet.i like fiction books because it is my own world.

  22. The first time i ever remember reading was when i was 4. My mom was reading a nighty night story and was trying to get me to sleep so i couldnt so she was holding me on her lap and almost done the book i read qrs and the rest of the alphabet. My momn was clapping and congratulating me and made me feel good.

My favorite character in a book is percy jackson because he has so much in common like age, looks and more stuff i would take agges to name. Also his missions seem fun and epic which would be fun to try because something new to do. Well there's more but it would take a while to name.

My Favorite book as child was the 13 1/2 lives of captain or it's any book by rick riordan. I never really borrow books i buy them so i dont return over and over. Rick riordan is my favorite author because he's the only author that hasn't dissapointe me except for the end of red pyramid, titans curse and lost hero for some reason and that's it for this blog :) bye

  23. My favorite book is lighting thief. My favorite author is Rick Riordan. I like all the books he wrote.I loved the lighting thief series it was cool and crazy. I want to read so many more books by him.I think he's the best author i read a book by so far.I also like sports books like Mike Lupica summer ball and travel team.A book i disliked is green eggs and ham!I thought it was a stupid book growing up.I also like the diary of a wimpy kid books

  24. My defintion of a good book is when it always leaves me wanting more. It has to be full of suspense and my mouth watering on what's going to happen next. It cant be boring and not have enough detail it has to be a mysterious romantic book like the hush hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick. I love these kind of books.

My favorite book as a child was the book Forged By Fire by Sharon Draper. Its about a boy who has a mother who loves him, but does the wrongs things to show her love. She is on drugs and evrything women did at the time. One day when she left him alone he was playing with her lighter and the house caught on fire. He ended up being taken away from her and going to his favorite aunt. Nine years his mom comes back in his life with a husband and a daughter. That same day his aunt has a heart attack and he has to live with his mom. Now he must live the life he never wanted. I would recommend this book to people who like sad but loving books.

I started reading when I was 5 years old in Kindergarten. I never use to love reading, but now I could read for hours as long as it's good and mysterious and romantic. I remember my first book I read that was about ladybugs.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Anikah: Get ready for more Sharon Draper this year! Did you know that our first core novel, that we will begin this week, is by Draper, too?

@Cullan: I had no idea the Eragon series was written by a 15-year-old. That's incredible! Would you add this series to our 7th grade must-reads list?

Keep these first comments coming, 7th grade! They are looking great, but I want to emphasize that I will be taking points off for those who do not proofread - style points (capitalization, punctuation, spelling - and even spacing counts!). Great job so far!

  26. I think the definition of a good book is when it's addicting. When you can't put a book down or you've read it a million and one times, it's saying something. Also i think that a book is good is when they make it into a movie and it ends up terrible! Yes it's weird but in my mind that means that the book was so amazing that they couldn't make anything better (not even a movie!)

The book i am reading right now is The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordin. This is the fourth book in the series. It's about this boy named Percy who is a demigod(they're half god half human.) As the war between Lord Kronos and the Olympians keeps getting closer things just keep seeming to get worst for Percy and his friends. For instance, Lord Kronos is trying desperately to get into Percy's only hiding place, camp half blood.

My favorite book when i was a child was The Pippy Long Stockings series. I don't own them anymore but if i did i probably would still go back and read them from time to time. Even though i don't read them anymore i still enjoy the author and hope to some day read those books again.

  27. The first time I learned to read was in daycare. I was playing chess and speaking sign language before I could read. My very first book was green eggs and ham.We all know this book is written by Dr. Suess. I was about
4 when I learned to read. My earliest reading memory is when I was on the first page of green eggs and ham, and I remember saying: "No Sa-m I amm, I do-n-t lik-ek gre-een eg-gs andd hamm" I could read I just stumbled alot. my favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham. My favorite author was D. Suess. I still enjoy his books to this very day. Sam is my favorite literary character because no matter how many times the other guy said no, he continued asking. Thats like me. Determined and never giving up.

The definition of a good book for me is when I can relate to the book in some way and when I can sit and read the book all day without getting bored. I'm reading a book called "Nobody's Prize" and its about a princess who's voyaged out on to a trip to a different country and she has to do it in secret without being caught. The author is Esther Friesner. I dont really know who I would reccomend this book to I'm not really that far into it just yet. No, I have not read the book the book the hunger games. I said I was going to but lately i've been a little busy. I think that them making a movie about it is a good idea, because i'm going to watch the movie and then read the book so I can see which one is better. I always hear from people that when there's a book and a movie out, the book is always better than the movie. I read the book " The City of Ember" and then I saw the movie and I didn't really like the movie. I preferred the book.

  28. When I first learned to read I was in pre-school. It was definetly my pre-school teachers who started me reading just before I went to kindergarden. I was about four years old. My earliest reading memory is when my mom and I read Home For A Bunny! It was a small children's book that I LOVED when I was very little. It was about a cute little bunny-rabbit that had to find a home before winter came! It was so cute and I just loved it!

My faveorite literary characters are definetly Fred and George Weasley form the Harry Potter series! They are so funny but still brave, smart and succesfull at the same time. I can't stand all those depressing people in books! All they do is make me sad!!! Anyway, I also really like Waren from the Fable Haven series. Just like the red-headed Weasley twins from the school of witch craft and wizardry, Waren comes from a fantastical background involving fairies and monsters. Waren is also very funny and smart.

Yes, I have read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I was horribly disappointed by the second book in the trilogy. It's a shame too, because the first one was so, so, so good! However, I do think the movie will be good. I guess I think this because I feel like it would be hard to mess up such a great book! I really hope it turns out well so I can go see it!

Some other film versions of books that I have read are the Harry Potter movies. The books are very good and the movies are not bad either. My mom loves Harry Potter movies! When ever my mom watches a movie with me it is nearly always Harry Potter! The one bad thing I can say about the Harry Potter movies is that the fifth and sixth movies were lacking some details that were in the book. Especially the sixth one, even though it's still a good movie, I would liked to have seen those details in the film.

  29. The book that I'm reading now is called "The Alchemyst" by Michael Scott. It is an amazing book about an immortal alchemyst named Nicholas Flamel and twins, Sophie and Josh Newman. Nicholas Flamel and his wife Perenelle were the keepers of a special book called 'the Codex.' This book has helped keep them alive for all these years and let them discover prophecies about the future. It also has spells and things that you don't want the wrong person getting his or her hands on; it would not be good news. Everything changes when Dr. John Dee, an immortal magician, steals the book and captures Perrenelle and the twins witness it, and the magic. Nicholas explains some important things to the twins about what is going on. Dee is working for a race called the the Dark Elders. The Elders were in our world long before the human race. The Dark Elders want to come back and rule the world again and the Codex is just the thing that can let them do that. Dee has the Codex, but he is missing something important, he is missing two pages. Josh had ripped out two pages of the Codex by accident and now Dee can't finish the spell. The twins then travel with Nicholas Flamel and a warrior to try to unlock the their true powers. They could be the ones that could save our world...

There are many definitions of good books to many people, but to me, a definition of a good book is a book that grabs your attention, a book you like to read, and if it's really good, a book that you never want to put down.

As a child, I think my favorite book was the Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park. I have returned to those books again and again but I don't think I've really read one of the books as a seventh grader. Although I haven't gone back to it recently, I still like the Junie B. Jones series as a seventh grader and I think it's a great series!

  32. My favorite book was Sassy, and it is still my favorite book. I think the author was going to make a series for it but the last time i cheaked she only had to books out. I loved that book it keeps me reading and my mind running, it is very interesting i love it.
I acually did reread the books becuase i liked them so much, i could understand it and it was not too easy or too hard. It was the right speed/level for me.
I still enjoy it as a 7th. grader. I also did a essay about one of the books last year for ELA. ( btw I wish the author made more I love those books!!!:D.)

  33. question 1 answer: The earliest i read was probably when i was at least 4 or 3 years of age.I used to read books like the foot book or green eggs and ham so mostly Dr.Suess.my mmy mom taught me how to read as a kid and started me off wwith child books. : favorite book:my favorite book is ark angel because it had all the elements that i would want in a book action/adventure/suspense.it was made by Anthony Horowitz:the maker of other titles like the devil and his boy and the diamond brothers mysteries. a good book:A good book to me when it has a good plot and good story background to it like action/adventures cause in most action/adventure books you try to find alot of good parts of the book.a book has to be simple and readable for everyone cause how will people no what thehe book is about if you cant understand it.

  36. I remember learning how to read in kindergarten. I was about 5 or 6 and my teacher was M.Maricarmen and she was very strict and mean. The fist book I read on my own was “Froggy Goes Too School”. I learned to read in Spanish and English since I was in ics and it was more of a challenge. I got the hang of it pretty quick, then I started reading more books on my own.The definition of a good book for me is when I’m addicted to it and I get sucked in to the story. To me it also means that I want to re-read the book and I can’t put it down. A good example of a good book is “The Hunger Games”. It was a good book because I couldn’t put it down and I wanted to read the whole series.

Some film version of books that I hated where the two “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” movies. I didn’t like the movies because they where nothing like the book and I never really liked the books. The only books that have became movies that I like where the “Harry Potter” movies. Even though they weren’t like the books, they where still good movies. Another movie that I didn’t like was “Matilda”, I didn’t like it because I thought that it was very different from the movie. I also didn’t like because I’m not a very big fan of Roald Dahl. That’s all for me

  37. Yes I do remember when I first learned how to read, I was about 5 years old. The person who taught me how to read was one of my pre-school teachers. Some of my earliest reading memories was when my mom and me went to the library and I picked out one of the Dr. Seuss’s book. So when my mom and me got home I slowly started reading it to her. And as the years went by I would advanced to more difficult books. My definition of a good book is when I cannot put it back down, and when I am addicted to it. Also it’s when I want to re-read it over and over again. An example is when I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone because I couldn’t put it down the whole day.

My favorite book as a child was a book called Minnie and Moo. The book was about two cows that were siblings and they had these crazy adventures. Yes, I have returned to one book over and over again. One book that I have read over and over again is Green Eggs and Ham. My favorite author as a child was Dr. Seuss because his books were so creative and fun to read. Yes, I still enjoy reading Dr. Seuss’s book as a 7th grader because you’re never too old to read his books.

  38. @Tomas: how could you not be a huge fan of Roald Dahl?!? I didn't know this was possible!

@Charles: I love Dr. Seuss, too!

@7: Watch those homonyms! We did just have a quiz this week, so I'm expecting mastery of those commonly misspelled homonyms.

  39. My favorite literary character for years past and for years to come is a boy named Will. He is the main character in a series of fascinating, globally related books called Rangers Apprentice, written by John Flanagan. There are 10 books in then series end they are all a great read for all ages because this adventurous young fellow is in a mid-evil version of Europe placed in North America. Basically what happens is that he becomes a Rangers apprentice and goes off with his mentor Halt and learns the way of the Ranger to protect the country of Araluen. As the series goes on more characters and places are added and they go around the world.

Speaking of series’ I love the Harry Potter movies are amazing, and as a matter of fact the books are too! I really recommend them to, well… anyone. Though I think that reading the books first is a good idea. But I have to say that, sadly, I haven’t read books 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7. My favorite book is… hard to say. I haven’t had one in such a long time. I just love every single one I read. My current read is called The Nightmarys. It’s pretty spooky. If you have a favorite book or character, spooky or not, then see if that author has any more books or if there are any more books of that type.

If you had to choose a favorite character, book or author what would it be? And don't be like me and say you dont have one!!!

  41. For me, the definition of a good book varies depending on each persons interest or taste. For me, I think a good book is a book you can relate to and that you never want to stop reading because you love it so much. Personally, i think every book is a good book according to at least one person.

I haven't read the Hunger Games, yet. I think the movie will be very different than the book as most movies, based on books, are. I've seen all of the Harry Potter movies, the Percy Jackson movie, the Golden Compass, Fantastic Mr.Fox, the Witches, the BFG, Matilda, the City of Ember and I want to see Beastly (all of these i read the book before i watched the movie, with the exception of the Golden Compass).

TIP: reading the book before you watch the movie is always a good idea. :)

  42. My first time learning to read was in kindergarten. The teacher help by making us learn the ABCs, then we learn the first step.the first step was to sound out the words.then, she gave us super easy books to read.It was hard for me because English was my second language, put I still try my best.I was like 5 years old when this happen.I really don't remember my teacher's name but she was a fun and a good teacher.I remember that our teacher read to us lot of times. I remember a book she read to us it was "The little engine that could" it was one of my favorites.

  43. I first learned how to read when I was three. I went to preschool and learned very fast. When I was good enough, I read Green Eggs and ham to the other kids. Speaking about green eggs and ham, when I was little, my favorite author was Dr. Seuss, and I still read his books and enjoy him today. I read the Hunger Games last year and was unimpressed because the characters were dull and I didn't care for them. I still think the movie will do well because they have a large fan base

  44. One of my favorite characters in a book is Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series. In the end he turns out to be one of the bravest characters. In the earlier books Neville is a boy that people treat differently. He’s not very good at magic and messes up every time he tries a spell. Therefore he tries to fit in with Harry and his friends. They end up being good friends he’s not very helpful and sometimes is just part of the audience watching as everyone fights against Lord Voldemort. In the seventh book, every body thinks that Harry is dead, their all about to give up all hope and turn to Lord Voldemort. Suddenly Neville thinks back about the past: Voldemort killed his parents, two of the most powerful wizards in the wizarding world. He gathers up all his courage that’s been hiding for seven whole years and kills the last horcrux that Voldemort has been hiding. Voldmort hisses his hate to Neville as people congratulate him. What I love so much about Neville Longbottom is that he shows how much people change and that you don’t need to live in the past but can carry on and still do amazing things even though you didn’t do amazing things in the past.

The book that I am currently reading is A Great and Terrible Beauty written by Libba Bray. It’s a great book that’s taking place in the 1800’s. Gemma a 15 year old girl lives in India. Hating living in India she gets into a fight with her mother. Gemma runs away. She wakes up on the streets with a strange man standing over her. She screams and goes into a trance where she sees a man coming towards her frightened mother. Gemma’s mother stands their holding a dagger trying to defend her self, but then she stabs herself. A few weeks later Gemma is sent to finishing school in London, there she makes amazing friends, falls in love, and discovers the truth behind her mother and the order she was in.This is a absolutely amazing book and I would recommend it to anybody. This is a good book for people who like tragedies and books that are historical fiction. It’s not just a regular book about a rich girl who marries a rich boy and they live happily ever after, no. The book consists of a girl seeing visions, enters visions and changes a secret realm outside of this world to make the realms better and for the sake of our world as well. In conclusion I would recommend this to every one cause it is a fast, addicting read!

My favorite book when I was younger was the Black Beauty by Anne Sewell. At first I couldn’t read it by myself so every night my mom would read my a chapter or two of the black beauty. The story is filled with pain and sadness and anger but it gives an excellent message of hope: no matter how horrible things are in life they will turn our right in the end if you wish for it to happen. The horse goes through horrible owners but also experiences good ones who treat him nicely. In the end he ends up at the farm where he was born and he remembers all his life while he runs along the meadow.Another reason I love this book is because it was the first chapter book I finished. I remember sitting in bed reading, having some difficulties but making it through the book and finishing. Its and amazing book and has amazing messages that are good for everybody.

  45. My favorite character is Ella in Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. She is my favorite because she is funny. She is also clumsy but that makes her funnier. For example, once she slipped on a piece of ice and broke a set of dishes but she was the one who dropped the ice. She is also smart, brave, and kind. She is good at learning languages. She is under a spell that makes her obedient so she has to do anything anyone says. If someone told her to eat carrots for the rest of her life she would have to do it. That makes her rebellious. That is why she is my favorite character.
The definition of a good book for me is a book that is exiting, has adventure, and is entertaining. It should also be well written . One example of a good book is The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley. I think it is a good book because it is funny and exiting. It also has characters I can relate to.
One of my favorite books when I was younger was Igraine The Brave by Cornelia Funke. It is about a girl named Igraine who wants to be knight. For her birthday her parents make her a present using magic but they make a mistake and get turned in to pigs. She has to find a red hair from a giant to turn them back. She has to hurry because a army is taking advantage of her parents state to try to steal their books of magic. I read this book a lot because it is a wonderful book. I still read it now.

  47. One film version of a book i've seen and loved was "The City of Ember. The City of Ember movie was pretty good but the book was awesome. In the movie they didnt have things that were inside of the book , it was werid but anyway i enjoyed the book and the movie. The book was so interesting , and exciting that i couldnt stop reading it.Everybody said "The City of Ember" book was corny ...i really like it.The first time i learned how to read was in kindergarden. I was 5 years old my teacher Ms.Hines taught me and my classmates how to read .I really dont remember what i read i just know that i know how to read now. My favorite author as a child was Barba Parks she is the creator of Junie B. Jones , Junie B. Jones was hilarious !! She had a sassy mouth and a wild imagination i miss reading her books. One of my favorite books from Barba Parks was Junie B. Jones Boo and i mean it that was my favorite book out of all of her books. So im done

  48. When I first learned to read I think I was about 4 years old. I remember my mom had been trying to teach me for about a month. But then one day I sat down and started to sound out the words, and I eventually got it on my own. I remember being really proud of myself and running to my mom and telling her. She grabbed a Dr. Seuss book and I sat down and started reading it. and my mom being so proud of me for reading it and knowing the words meant. When I was younger I loved the Junie B. Jones books By Barbara Park. I used to read them all the time. They were one of the first books that learned to read. And even before then my mom used to read them to me almost every night. Every once and a while I will go back and reread them but now instead of taking me days it takes me only a few minutes.
The definition of a good book for me is a book that has a great plot. There are parts that make you feel sad or exited or nervous. A good book is a book with great descriptions. It draws you in and you can't put it down. It can be sad, funny or even scary but NOT one of those how to survive middle school or teenage drama books. Those typed of books I fell are very unrealistic, and are always afoul. In my opinion it’s the worst genre.

  49. My favorite book when I was younger was and still is: Swimmy by: Loe Lionni. I know its suprsing that i'm a 7th grader and still like a kid book ; i can't help it it's just such a good book. Loe Lionni was an amazing author , tragicly his last breath was three days aftrer my first (october 9th 1999.) Thhat was the day the world of literature changed. His bookks didn't make little kid feel like the were baby's ; while still being basic enough to understand.

The book that I am currently reading is: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. The last olympian is the last book in the Percy Jackson seris. This book is about four best friends (Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Thalia) who have went on difrent missions togethe for the past four years and this may be there last battle togethher. The Percy Jackson series is a great series and I would recomend it tfor everybody. That's all I can say without spoiling it. SORRY.

  50. The book that I’m currently reading is The good, The bad, and The ugly. The book is written by Steven Silverman a sports non- fiction writer. The book is about the complete history of the Philadelphia Eagles. It tells you about the whole team history from when the team first started out until present day. I would recommend this book to people who really like the Eagles or football. Also people who think they know everything about the team because there so much information in this book that you wouldn’t be able to remember it all.
Some books that I loved that were turned into a movie was the Harry Potter series. I loved the books and I loved the movie but the thing I hate about It was that they changed some stuff in the movie that was in the book but that happens with every book that is now a movie. One movie that I hate and is a book is the Percy Jackson series. I dislike the movie because it was so different that u could barely compare the two things.

  51. My favorite book when I was younger was swim fishy swim by Leo Lionni. When I was younger i didn't like being called a baby ; the thing that i liked most about that book was how it didn't make little kids feel like baby's but it was basic enough for us to understand. The author was absolutely amazing, I love most of his book's. Sadly his life ended only days after my life started.(October 11th 1999.) That day the world of literature lost a truly amazing writer.

The book that i am currently reading is The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. This is the is the last boo kin the Percy Jackson series. This book is about what may be the last battle Percy and his friends will ever have together. The Percy Jackson series is a series for all ages and and attitudes please please please take the time to read it if you have not already. Sadly this is all i can say. SORRY!

  52. Well I don't remember the first time I ever read a book. But my favorite book when i was little was cloudy with a chance of meat-balls. My favorite author was Doctor Seuss because I loved the book green eggs and ham. i did return to book again and again cuz it was so funny and interesting. Right now I don't really take interest in the authors just the books. My favorite literary character in Gregory from Diary of a wimpy kid cuz he is funny and has a lot in his mind just like me. Oh yeah right now I'm reading a book called The Westing game and it is so confusing but i think I get it a little. Last thing i liked the book city of ember but the movie I just hated it. That's all folks

  53. Hello!
One of my most favorite books has got to be a book i read only yesterday. It is a book called Out Of My Mind. It is the complete definition of a good book. A good book is the kind that makes you more involved in the characters life than your own. It is a book that makes you want to throw something across the room if something bad happens to the main character.
I have no memories of the first time i read. What I do remember is every night as my dad tucked me in for bed we would read 5 minutes of The Lion, The Witch,
and The Wardrobe. I have such great memories of reading. But i do remember that i didn't like reading until the fifth grade. I loved it.
Finally, to anyone who doesn't like reading, don't dislike reading. it is an amazing thing. Dislike the books you choose to read. Because once you find a good book, nothing in the world compares to it.

  54. I first learned to read at ICS when I was 4 years old. I remember the teachers coming in and reading a book to us and we would have to read along with them. When I got home I told my parents and they bought me baby books for me to read.

My favorite book as a child was Diary Of A Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and I loved to reread it over and over. I'm not sure that I still like it as much as I used to.

My favorite literary character is Eragon from the Eragon series because he's brave and kind but also powerful and I think that it would be cool to be like him.

    THE END.

  55. I think I first learned how to read when I was four years old. My mom was the one who taught me how to read. My mom use to tell me that mostly everyday when I was a child I would pick a book out to read and I would go in the corner to read my book. She also use to tell me I wouldn’t let anything or anybody distract me from reading.
For me a definition of a good book is a book that makes me want to read more. For example I like books that are fiction. I like fiction because most of the times they make me want to keep on reading the book. I also like fiction because fiction books to me are very interesting and fun to read. That is my definition of a good book.
I really like this book called “Dear John”. Then they made a movie of the book and I loved it. I loved it because I liked the actresses they picked to be the characters in the movie. Also I love the movie because in the movie they made it like the book but not completely. In conclusion that’s why I love the movie and the book “Dear John”.

  57. I don’t remember when I learned how to read or who taught me how but I do remember that I loved it. One of my 1st reading memories is that I was reading “the little princess” and I read that book until my father told me my eyes were turning red. I honestly think I was reading it more for the feeling of accomplishment rather than reading it because I liked it.
When I was younger I liked all sorts of books as a toddler. It got to the point with one of my books “Go away big green monster” by Ed Emberly that I memorized the whole book so when my mom read I would read with her. Also the book “No David No” by David Shannon was one of my favorites. I also liked the “Lightning thief” series by Rick Riordan its still one of my favorites. I will always love those books. Of course there was the twilight stage, and now I’m just reading whatever sounds good or I have an interest in.
I’ve seen/read a lot of books turned into a movie. I remember I read the “Spiderwick Chronicles” by authors Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black in 3rd grade and was pretty satisfied with how the movie turned out. I remembered they’re a lot of flaws but over all I was satisfied. Again there was also Twilight which I thought was great until I saw it again and didn’t really like as much, “The lighting thief” which was good. As well as “the lovely bones” I thought the movie wasn’t as great as the book.

  59. My favorite author as a child was Megan McDonald, the author of the Judy Moody series. Since I really enjoyed the Judy Moody books I re-read them over and over again, but as I grew, I grew out of the books as well. Now that I'm in 7th grade, I like reading more advanced books, but if I had the time I would re-read the books.

A definition of a good boook, for me, is a book you really enjoy and cant't put down. It's a book that if you read for a long time,it will feel like you only read for 10 minutes. When you're finish with the book you tell yourself, "Woah, I have to read that again." It's a book that when you read it, it feels like you're in the book, it feels like and looks like a movie in your mind. A good book is a book you'll keep forever.

The book I'm currently reading is called The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. The book is about a girl named Katniss who has to compete in something called The Hunger Games, if she wants to at least try to live on with her life. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure or fiction. If you like being surprised, shocked, or anxious, then The Hunger Games is the perfect book for you.

I loved Dr.Suess as a child and I still do. I didn’t return to one book I just didn’t like reading knew things then because I was scared I wouldn’t like it. What a dumb child I was. Sometimes when I go to the library I go to the kids sections and red all of the Dr.Suess and people I give me weird looks sometimes, but I couldn’t care less about what they think. Dr.Suess will always amuse me.
I don’t think there s a certain definition of book I like I just read what Iike, but I don’t really like reading books when the main characters a boy. I don’t know why it’s just a thing but I will occasionally or hen I have to.

My favorite book is the series Alex Rider by Anthony Horowitz. I read all 6 of the 9 book series and found them to be very interesting. I also enjoy his early work entitled "Public Enemy Number Two", a kid framed for a crime he did not commit.

My definition of a good book is one that keeps my interest from the start and has plenty of action and adventure and has a good plot.

The book I'm currently reading, Anthony Horowitz's Ark Angel is very suspenseful and it has you hanging by the seat at all times. You have to be a detective from the beginning to put all the pieces together at the end. I would recommend this book to all the kids who loves action and spy trilogy.

I was about 4 when i first learned how to read.I learned by sounding out the letters and sometimes i even made up my own story by looking at the pictures.Dont judge me i was only 4.The only thing i remember is going to the library with my daycare. When I got there i picked a book called Chicka Chicka Boom Boom By Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault.I picked it because it was colorful and it looked interesting with my 4-year-old brain.I was Fascinated!

My favorite book as a child was called Chicka Chicka Boom Boom By Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault. It was an awesome book its one of my favorites Til this day.If you've never heard of it ,look it up.My favorite author as a child is actually Dr. Suess ,I Mean who wouldnt love his books? They are very fun to read and i love the rhymes. His books just light up my day.Your never to old to enjoy a good old book from Dr. Suess.I Love Reading.I Love Reading mystery books And action books with atleast a little romance.I have not read the hunger games but i do plan on it.The hunger games seem very interesting. The book i am currently reading is called Happyface its a very good book.It makes me want to keep reading. Its about how in some schools some kids are made as popular and unpopular. This kid tries to change to become popular then everything becomes into a disaster it actually sounded better in my head.It Actually is better then you think just read it,you will be shocked.I love reading books before the movie comes out the books are actually much more detailed, well thats my opinion. An example is diary of a wimpy kid i went to watch the movie in theaters.I was disappointed the book was way better then the movie .Well thats my opinion. :)

I first learned to read when i was about 3 or 4. My mom tought me how to read, and my earliest reading memory was reading eter rabbit. I've seen all the Harry Potter's and read 4 of them and I liked the movies more but I was suprised how good the movies are because most movie versions aren't good.

Yes, I have read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I guess a movie is good for attention, but I know myself it won't be as good. It will do the book justice because people buy books converted to movies. For example, The Help,City of Ember, The Lightning Thief, Harry potter and so on. This is what i hav e to say about making it into a movie.

I personally felt that the Hunger Games was a really well written book.I believe that the movie is not going to be half as good the book;it was the same thing as the Lightning Thief it was a really good book but the movie was just terrible. Also i think this movie is not going to be as the book because in the movies they cut off parts from the book and replace it with made up parts so the movie can make sense. While in books they add every little detail. In movies they can not do this because the movie would be too long.

  69. The book that I am reading now is called Birth Market. I hope I will like the book until the end, because the book cover looks interesting. The book my mom wants me and my sister to read is Rich Dad Poor Dad. The book is about how rich people tell their kids what to do with money. And how the poor class people tell their kids to go the mall and spend it. The rich people tell their kids to save their money so they have it. The poor people's house look raggedy and the rich people houses look nice because the poor people don't save their money for what they need. They spend money on clothes. The rich people spend their money on what they need.

  71. 1. Who is your favorite literary character? What do you love about this character/what makes them your favorite?

My favorite literary character is Max from (A maximum ride novel). I love this character because she is so cool and she’s a good leader to her group and always make sure everyone is okay also she is very strong and is funny to me. What makes her my favorite is that she likes to take lead and knows how to get around hard things.

    2. Describe the book you are currently reading. Include the title and author and tell us about it without giving away any spoilers. Who would you recommend this book to?

The book I am now reading is ANGLE (a maximum ride novel) it is by James Patterson.

So far in the book max (the leader) has to lead some more kids that she doesn’t really know that well so they can team up and help her and her team to save the world. But also Fang (an old member) from max’s team is making his own and is trying also to save the world but soon both Fang’s and Max’s team well have to join together….. I would tell my friends and teachers to read it because it is just so good.

    3. What other film versions of books have you seen and loved (or hated)?
A film version of a book I did like was The Lighten Thief because the movie was as good as the book (all of the books).

  72. My favorite book is Ender's Game the author is unknown. This book takes you on an adventure through time and space. This book takes all you know of heroes and totally changes. Its main character is Ender Wiggin (not sure if that is the way u spell it i read it a while back) but this little boy is the most talented but smallest one in this book.I've returned to this book plenty of times in 6th grade but have not read it yet in 7th it has a sequel but the name i don't recall. The main reason i don't recall the name is because after such a fantastic start they really didn't impress me with the sequel partly because Ender dies. But i still look forward to reading this very vivid and detailed adventure of Ender Wiggin.

The book I'm am currently reading is called Artemis Fowl I'm am not very far into it but it is by Eoin Colfer. So far it's about a 12 year old boy who's name is Artemis Fowl he is currently in the part of the book I'm at searching for an item that item has not be identified yet but it seems to be very urgent that it is found he has posted a add online. The man who answered it is Nguyen Xaun although he clearly states that he will never work with magic and crime again he is currently stuck with helping Artemis because he fears his very strong and advanced butler whose name surprisingly was not said yet but after sending a spy to check out the meeting place mister Xaun was very shock to hear of all the ways the butler could simply kill he and became extremely cooperative. Soon after they talk of a woman who may have answers to Artemis' unknown questions i love suspense book and this book is totally for me. I look forward to reading more.

  74. my favorite character is Tookie because she is special and not as pretty and because of that she stands out from the others she has a lot of personality.the thing that defines a good book to me is how good it is written , how fascinating it is to me as the reader and the critic .the book I'm currently reading is called Modelland this book is about a place called Motopia and it is a school named Modelland and you have to be spot on beautiful and a girl named Tookie who has 4 textures of hair and is not tall,or beautiful so she tries to get into Modelland but when she does people starts to realize that she doesn't belong but a group of girls thinks she is beautiful in her own little why so they try to defend her honor this book was writtern by the Trya banks...read to find what happens next.

  75. I think I first learned to read when I was 4 or 5 years old. I don't remember the title or the author, but I do remember the story. It was about a Mama Bunny and the Baby Bunnies, and they played hide-and-seek when the children escaped from the cage they were held in. My mom was in a conference in Chicago, but I read aloud, to my own surprise, to my father. I proceeded to reading over the phone to my mother. I think the way I learned how to read was when my father would read aloud to my brother and I every night, I would try to follow along with what he was saying, and eventually I was able to piece it together!

The book I am currently reading is called "Inkheart" by Cornelia Funke. This is my second time reading this book, because it's very captivating and well-written. It's about how the main character, Meggie's, father reads 3 cahracters out of a book when she is 3 years old. 2 are sinister and evil, Capricorn and Basta, while the other, Dustfinger, is innocent. In exchange for these characters, Meggie's mother and 2 cats get read into the book. But Dustfinger who so desperately wishes to be read back into the book, betrays Meggie and her father to Capricorn and his men, they are suddenly thrown into a dangerous experience-- it may take away their lives, or give them Meggie's mother.

I have read "The Hunger Games" series by Suzanne Collins. I am slightly nervous about the book being made into a movie, because I am afraid the movie will not do the book justice, and ruin it.

  76. One movie I saw and hated is Avatar the Last Airbender. I started watching the cartoon with my siblings one day and at first I didn't like it but after about 3 episodes I couldn't stop watching it. I watched season 1 2 and 3 about 2 and a half times and it's still not boring and then the movie came out... I asked my mom to let me leave halfway through in the movie theaters. They messed up the names, humor, characters, everything. I think the only reason they picked the actors was because they knew martial arts.

  77. The first time I learned to read was when i was in Pre-k. At that time i probably was about three years of age. The teacher that taught me how to read I forger her name.My earliest book that i read was tears of a tiger. that book was incredible. My favorite book is tears of a tiger. that book is so deep the book that i defiantly returned to again and again is holes that book is also good. My favorite literacy character is Dr.Seuss. I loved that book, it was so funny. A definition of a good book is something that has me hooked, a book that I'm so interested into, and a book that i cannot put down. Right now I'm reading a book travel team. It's about this kid he wants to play basketball for a travel team but he always too short i would recommend this book to people that loves sport books haven't read any of those books. read the book City of Ember i actually really like the book and movie

  78. I learned to read when I was about 4 1/2. The book I read was a book called Olivia. My father taught me how to read. My favorite book was Magdalena Hoopensteina Hogan Bogan Candelina. That book was funny, entertaining, and educational. I returned to this book like 8 times, till' this day I still read that book in my own spare time.

I like a book that tells a story and has a meaning to it. The Book Has to Be Able to make a mental picture in my head for me to know it’s a good book. A film version of a book I’ve seen was called The Clique: A novel by Lisi Harrison. I loved that movie; it was a very realistic movie. The movie and also the book look and felt like it could happen in real life.

  79. The book I am currently reading is called "The girl with the dragon tattoo" by Steig Larsson. Its a book about a disappearance in Sweden, that has been going on for a very long time. And Mikael Blomkvist,a journalist,is the only man for the investigation. So he goes to the place where the disappearance happened and stays there for a year to find out any information. But he finds out that its hard finding information. Then he gets paired with Lisabeth Slander.Do they find information? Is this really a disappearance...or a murder?Well you're gonna have to read to find out.

  80. I do remember when i first learned how to read. My mom had taught me and read me green eggs and ham by Dr. Seuss. Then she made me try and i just remember getting so excited when i would get a word right. My favorite book when i was younger was green eggs and ham because it was the first book I've ever read. I still love that book because it's just so classic and will never get old.
My favorite literary character is Junie B. Jones. I love her because she is just so unpredictable and funny. Also, she gets into funny situations that normal people don't get into that's just it Junie B. Jones isn't normal.
The definition of a good book for me is a suspenseful book because they keep me interested . Which is shocking because i'm very picky with the books I read.

  82. When I first learned to read, I thought I would NEVER learn how. I would always studier or fumble words up. I couldn’t really get the hang of it!!! The first book I’ve ever read was the hungry caterpillar. To this day it has been one of my favorite books. The second book I’ve ever read was The BFG. After saw the play, it was the best play and book ever!!! I really like to read chapter and poetry books now. I’m a natural born reader.

  84. Hello everyone! I kind of remember when I first learned to read . I believe I was four years old when I learned . My mom taught me how to read. My earliest reading memory is when me and my brother would go to bed my mom would read to us and sometimes challenge me to read a paragraph. My favorite author as a child was Dr. Susse. I actually haven't really return to a book again and again only like little kiddy books. I do still enjoy that author today as a 7th grader. I actually have alot of literary characters but my favorite ones are the characters from the bluford series. What I like about these characters is that their personality just stand out to you. It makes you wanna read more of the story and get deep into it.

A definition of a good book is a book that you wont put down, a book that stands out to you and really catches your interest. The book that I am currently reading is a dramatic book. It's called Brothers In Arms by Paul Langan and Ben Alirez. Its definietly a book that would make you sad and make you just feel bad about the character and make you feel like you understand what the character is going through. It makes you feel like you are there. I would recommend this book to people who are really in to dramatic sad books. No I haven't read the Hunger Games. What I think about this book that has been made into a movie well
I hope its good I really dont' have a thought. I think the movie will do the book justice, because maybe it can get people to read the book. Other film versions of books i've seen and loved was Diary of a Wimpy kid.

  85. When I started reading I was 4. My mom read to me every night about 5 pages of a children's book. I remember the first book I read was Rosie Posie which is illustrated by my second cousin. Rosie Posie is probably my favorite book because it was the first I read a loud. Although I’m older now I still remember this special moment that’s is very important to not only me but everyone who ever had this moment in their life.
A definition of a good book for me is being able to be proud of the book that you are reading. Also you can read the title and back and enjoy it. Once you have read a couple of chapters you want to keep reading and not skip pages of just read the last chapter. Something very important is that you understand everything {words are different} in the book and you can give a summary of at least a paragraph of the book. In conclusion being able to read a book and enjoy it is one thing but understanding a book and also enjoying it is what makes a book a great book.
I have read many books some good some not but when I found out that a book I have read gets put into a movie plot I feel happy and sad. First of many of the books I have read that have been turned into movies, the books are great but the movie is TERRIBLE, for example, The Twilight Series and City of Ember. Although there are exceptions of amazing books turned into pretty good movies, for example, Harry Potter series, many childrens books like my favorite book turned movie, Fantastic Mr.Fox. {Fantastic Mr.Fox was nominated for a Academy Award which makes it pretty AWESOME!!!!!} It’s weird how some books turned movies are better then others maybe it’s the writer or the directer or maybe it was just a poisonous to even make a movie in the first place, but no matter what people still love those movies and those books. In conclusion, no matter how good the book or how bad the book the movie can be good and cannot but that’s your opinion to keep.

  86. Yes, I remember the first time I learned to read. My first book was "Goodnight Moon". I was 1 year old at the time. My dad read it to me every night, that's how I learned to read it. My earliest reading memory was looking through the book and thinking "Why is there no people in this story? Just some weird look'in pictures." In all truth they did start to creep me out. The definition of a good book for me is when you read the first few pages and your already addicted, and YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. Then it leaves you thinking and it keeps you guessing what's gonna happen next, until you find out. The book I am currently reading now is The Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman, this book is about a boy named Nobody Owens, Bod for short, and is life living in the graveyard. In the beginning of the book a man named Jack has been given an assignment to kill this family and he is nearly done except for the baby boy. When the man Jack had made his way to the babies room and the baby's gone! He somehow made it out the crib down the stairs and through the front door and on to the graveyard he went! I would recommend this book to anyone who knows a good book when they see one!

I've read the hunger games series and before I start I want to say well done Ms. Sueanne! But I thought book 3 could have have a slightly different turnout between Gale and Katniss. My thoughts on it being made into a movie... Well in past books that have been turned into movies that I've seen were horrible! They skip entire seens in the book that I feel are important and that makes me sad and the characters appear differently then they are described in the book and that makes me want to rip my hair out follicle by follicle.

  87. My Favorite Literary Charecter Until this day now is Junie B. Jones.I love Junie B. Jones. I love her sarcasticness and her whole additude through out the whole entire book. Even though the book is easy for me, I will just read it for fun.My favorite book as a child was. Green Eggs And Ham by Doctor Susse. That was my first book that I knew how to read it was easy and quick. To this day i still love this book. I will read it just for fun and to laugh

.My faviorte book as a teenager is Darkness Before Dawn. The age that I learned how to read was when i was 3 years old.My dad and mom taught me how to read. But I remember mostly my dad. He was really the one I will go to with all my homework. But it was still trikcy but the harder my dad pushed me the harder I tried and got better at it.
Some films that I saw and also read the books are. The secret life of the bees,Maniac Magee,The City Of Ember. Out of those 2 I thought the beat was The secret life of the bees. I love the movie.

  88. The book that I am currently reading Is Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. I would recommend this book to someone that has a personality like me and likes the Twilight Series like me becau8se if someone doesn't like the Twilight series and they don't like those series they would tell the Individual "Why would you give me this boring book and you know that I dont like the twilight series because all the book is about love, vampires, and wolves"(which Its not.) But if you have someone thats never read the twilight series before and want to read it and has the same personality as you and really wants to read those series that person would say to that Individual "Oh my this book is really good i've gotta get this book and see the movie.) Thats why I would recommend this book to a person thats interested in the twilight series and has the same personality as me.
